Corey M. Dean

Corey M. Dean* was educated at the University of British Columbia where he received his B.Comm. in 1979 and his LL.B. in 1980.

Corey practises corporate, securities and natural resource law with a focus on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions for both natural resource and industrial issuers. Corey is a former chairman of the natural resources subsection of the British Columbia branch of the Canadian Bar Association.

Corey has an extensive corporate and securities practice with particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions as well as public and private financings and corporate governance matters. He has a variety of corporate clients, both domestic and international, that he has advised on such transactions as plans of arrangement, amalgamations and other forms of merger transactions, related party transactions, take-over bids, take-over defences, divestitures, initial and secondary public offerings, private placement financings, corporate governance matters, proxy conflicts and other securities law transactions. Corey has been counsel to both the acquiror and target in a number of contested and friendly take-over and negotiated merger transactions. He has advised numerous clients in listing matters on the major Canadian stock exchanges and in cross border financings and merger and acquisition transactions. Corey primarily acts as counsel for corporate clients engaged in various industry sectors including mining, oil and gas, medical technology and computer technology but has also acted as counsel for underwriters from time to time.

Corey has lectured for Continuing Legal Education and the Canadian Bar Association on securities law, take-over bid and corporate governance matters.
