Mary P. Collyer* obtained her LL.B. in 1987 and clerked at the British Columbia Court of Appeal before being called to the bar in British Columbia in 1989.
Mary practises corporate and commercial law with an emphasis on securities law and corporate finance.
Matters in which she has recently been involved include public and private equity offerings, representing target companies on both hostile and negotiated take-over bids and mergers and assisting Canadian listed issuers in listing on the TSX Venture Exchange, TSX and AMEX.
Mary also advises on various business transactions including purchases and sales of assets, property options and joint venture agreements and assists issuers in developing and implementing corporate governance policies and procedures.
Mary is Chair of the Securities Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC) to the British Columbia Securities Commission – a committee that provides advice to the Commission on administrative, regulatory and legislative matters affecting the securities industry in the province of British Columbia.
Mary was one of the original contributing authors to the Due Diligence Desk Book published by the B.C. Continuing Legal Education Society and has been a faculty member on a number of continuing legal education forums on corporate and securities matters.
